Some "Star Wars" Fans Are Trying To Remake "The Last Jedi" And I Just???

Man, it's a weird time for Star Wars fans. Since the release of The Last Jedi in December 2017, some weird stuff has happened.

The divisive movie has spawned great conversations about the future of the franchise from some fans, and different reactions from other factions of the fandom. There's been widespread opposition to many of the female characters in The Last Jedi. In January, someone recut the movie to exclude all the women in the film, and uploaded the 46-minute version to Pirate Bay. Earlier this month, Last Jedi star Kelly Marie Tran deleted her Instagram account after months of harassment, and has received public support from her cast mates.

Most recently, a full six months after the film's release, some members of the fandom are trying to kind of actually remake the film?

The group wrote in a series of tweets that they wanted a diverse writing team of people that both loved and hated the movie, in order to make a version of the film that isn't "blasphemy," and insisted that they are not "basement dwellers who are just keyboard cowboys that will never actually effect real change."

Very successful actor and producer Seth Rogen (who knows a lot about getting movies made) chimed in with a bunch of legimitate points about this "plan," such as, uhh, where ya gonna get that $200 million budget?

And how are you gonna get investors to get you that, uhh, $200 million budget?

And what about copyright issues with Disney?

Even Last Jedi director Rian Johnson jokingly chimed in with his own thoughts on, ya know, remaking his film:
